Apple MacBook With Folding Screen May Arrive in 2026

There are many reports that Apple is developing their first foldable screen device with the iPad Mini believed to be the first product. Apple is the only major manufacturer that has yet to offer a device with this design. Leading analyst Ming-Chi Kuo today reported that Apple will offer a MacBook with a folding screen as early as 2026.

He said LG Display was chosen as the manufacturer of foldable screen panels with sizes of 20.25″ and 18.8″ being tested. When folded, it's big enough to fit on a MacBook with a 14–15″ or 13–14″ screen. The first panel assembly is predicted to happen as early as Q4 2025 or H1 2026 which hints that the first foldable MacBook will go on sale in 2026 with the Apple M5 chip.

Among Apple's targets is a screen with a less noticeable fold effect. Therefore the cost of producing a folding screen panel with a special hinge is expected to reach $900. At the same time, this foldable screen MacBook is a luxury premium product just like the Vision Pro.

Create a market for a folding screen MacBook? If you ask us the answer is probably yes but very little. All of the foldable Windows laptops we've used are attractive but less practical than regular laptops. Physical keyboards are still far more intuitive to use than on-screen keys.
