Atari Takes Over Intellivision and Catalogs Over 200 Video Games

I am of the Atari generation with the Atari 5200 being my first console in 1986. For someone of my age, the rivalry between Atari and Intellivision in the 80s was the same as the rivalry between PlayStation and Xbox today. Today Atari announced their full takeover of the Intellivision making them the winners of the console war that has lasted over 40 years.

Atari will now expand Intellivision's offering of classic games digitally and physically in the future so they can continue to be played. Under this acquisition, Atari also now owns the rights to over 200 video games held by Intellivision. Among their popular games now are Q*bert, Dig-Dug and Advanced Dungeons & Dragons.

In Malaysia as far as we know Intellivision has never been widely marketed with their classic console nor have we ever seen it physically. Their collection of classic games is then resold digitally on the PlayStation 2, Xbox and GameCube.
