Moonton is one of the video games that is also owned by Bytedance, which is the parent company behind TikTok. After various reports said Bytedance was looking to sell their video game business, now Bytedance is seen changing their strategy.
Most recently, Bytedance has appointed a new CEO to lead Moonton – namely Zhang Yunfan. Zhang previously worked at Perfect World, a video game publishing business in Beijing, which also publishes Dota2 in China.
This appointment also shows that Bytedance will not sell Moonton, and make some strategic changes to the company.
At the moment, it is not yet fully known what Bytedance's plans are through Moonton, and what their goals are in the video game arena. Previously, they had sold several game titles under them to Tencent, and narrowed the scope of their video game business.
