ChatGPT that chats like a real human was shown to the public last year with Voice Mode. For hardcore users, the voice of "Sky" offered by OpenAI sounds similar to the voice of the virtual assistant in the movie Her played by Scarlett Johansson.
OpenAI today announced that Sky voice will no longer be offered. According to them, because there is a similarity with the voice of the Black Widow actress, Sky is now withdrawn. The Voice Mode voice should not sound like the actor's voice. Actually the voice of another female actress was used to produce Sky but OpenAI did not reveal her identity.
The other voices of Breeze, Cove, Ember, and Juniper are still available with the process of selecting voices to train the model taking five months. With the introduction of GPT-4o last week, a new language model will be introduced through Voice Mode in the near future.
