Last week, the country's 5G network management company, Digital Nasional Berhad announced the appointment of seven new board members to the company's board of directors, including Datuk Kamal Khalid from CelcomDigi, Uthaya Kumar K Vivekananda from Maxis, Chang Yit Fei and Tan Kok Leong from U Mobile, Nik Azli Abu Zahar and Mohamed Tajul Mohamed Sultan from Telekom Malaysia and Datuk Seri Yeoh Seok Hong and Datuk Dr Fadhlullah Suhaimi Abdul Malek from YTL Power.
It is now reported that the DNB board of directors will meet next Tuesday, 7 May 2024 to discuss the feasibility study (due diligence) regarding the sale of the company's shares (Share Sale Agreement) to five local telecommunications companies before discussing the direction of the development of the second 5G network. country.
Digital Minister, Gobind Singh Deo also said that the board of directors will be given 20 days to determine the direction of development of this second 5G network, after examining the due diligence report. He also said that so far, the due diligence that should be completed by the end of 2023 will be presented at the meeting.
"The time frame I have set is 20 days for them to come back and resubmit the steps that need to be taken to develop the second 5G network after examining the due diligence report and it will be done one by one." said Gobind again after signing a new agreement between DNB and telecommunications equipment supplier Ericsson today.
