FourSquare Reportedly Laying Off Over 100 Employees

FourSquare, one of the social services best known for its geolocation offering, is now reported to have cut around 25% of their workforce, impacting 105 employees. This reduction step is done in parallel in reducing the company's operating costs.

For those who are not familiar with FourSquare, it was the early days of the introduction of smartphones, known as geolocation-focused social media, where users could check in at a location and receive badges. However, after a few years, it split its app offering into Swarm, while FourSquare focused on licensing their geolocation data to other app developers.

Through the termination of this employee, one of the parts affected is FourSquare CIty Guide, besides it also stopped the development of several things, including involving "Mobile Developer Tools and Geode".

With this change, it is no longer shared regarding FourSquare's plans moving forward.
