IGN today announced the acquisition of publisher Gamer Network, which has a number of gaming-focused web portfolios under their belt. Among them are Eurogamer, VG247, GamesIndustry, Rock Paper Shotgun, Dicebreaker, and several others below.
The takeover value has not been announced at this time. In parallel with this takeover, some employees were laid off - mainly in more or less the same positions, in an effort to reduce operating costs and so on.
With this move, IGN continues to strengthen their position in the video game arena – not to mention having previously taken over several other companies, including Humble Bundle.
