After Elon Musk took over Twitter and changed it to X, more and more competitors are trying to be the “new Twitter”. Among them are Bluesky from the founder of Twitter which already has more than 4 million users, Mastodon, Threads by Facebook or even Post which after a year of launch will now end operations.
Most recently, Jack Dorsey, the former founder of Twitter who also helped develop and make Bluesky successful until it received millions of users, has reportedly left as a member of the board of directors. This was confirmed by Bluesky himself and before he left, Dorsey had also closed his personal Bluesky account.
The reason for Dorsey's exit from Bluesky was not disclosed. Jay Graebar and Jeremie Miller remain on the board and Bluesky is also currently searching for Dorsey's replacement. According to a report by The Verge, Dorsey was also inactive before leaving Bluesky to help in the development of this open source social media platform. At the time of writing, there is still no word on what Dorsey's next project will be.
