Malaysia only enjoyed a commercial 5G network a few years ago after being delayed due to the pandemic. In Japan they have been enjoying 5G since 2020 and they have now started the initial steps to introduce a 6G network and successfully produce and test 6G technology.
In the tests carried out, an internet speed of 100 Gbps was successfully transmitted within a distance of 100 meters. This is around 10 times faster than today's peak 5G speeds. This technology is produced in collaboration by the telecommunications companies DOCOMO, NTT Corporation, NEC Corporation, and Fujitsu who form a consortium to develop a 6G network in Japan.
Japan aims to launch a 6G network by 2030. For information, Japan has become the fourth country after China, Finland and South Korea that has already started research for the sixth generation cellular network.
