Netflix Will Bring HDR Control Buttons To Android Apps

The Netflix app as of today does not give users manual control to choose streaming resolution and color format. Everything moves automatically and the user can only select the auto mode for the best content quality played according to the Internet access speed. According to Android Authority, Netflix will offer a manual button to activate HDR mode on Android devices.

This button is said to allow users to choose whether to stream video in SDR or HDR format. HDR mode will force the screen to light up at maximum brightness. If you watch a movie before going to bed, the SDR mode can prevent your eyes from getting sore from too much glare.

The use of HDR mode also uses higher power which results in the battery being used faster. SDR mode is useful for saving power or keeping the device from turning off while watching content.

For now it is still uncertain if Netflix will offer this button to everyone or just a test. This feature is hidden in the Netflix app for Android version 8.117.0 build 3 50695 beta. Let's wait together.
