New Chrome OS Allows Progressive Web Apps Like Pixlr To Be Installed From Developer Websites

Google has introduced a new way to make it easier for users to install apps on Chromebooks. One of the most notable changes is the all-new “Add to Chromebook” button that allows apps to be installed directly by simply pressing it. The button can be placed on the developer's website for example with this the user no longer needs to go to the App Store first at once. saves time.

It supports the installation of Progressive Web Apps (PWA) and Android apps. On PWA the application install window will appear directly on the screen with a button to start the installation. On the Android application, the Play Store window will appear first with application information displayed. Press the "Install" button and the application will be installed on the computer.

At this point only 18 developers already support the “Add to Chromebook” feature on their apps and one of them is Pixlr, a company based in Malaysia. Developers have to manually activate this feature for their apps.

All these features will be enabled through the Chrome OS 125 update which will be rolled out in stages over the coming weeks
