OpenAI Confirms It's Developing a New Model in Moving Towards AGI

OpenAI today officially announced that they have started the development of a new model for artificial intelligence, thus stepping into the next phase of the development of artificial intelligence capabilities in achieving the AGI era.

The model that has begun development and training is expected to replace the GPT-4 in use today. Various rumors say it might be the GPT-5 model that was talked about a few months ago. New models developed later will bring better data processing capabilities, and at the same time be trained using more recent data.

In parallel with this announcement, OpenAI also announced that they have established a dedicated security team that will provide various recommendations to the board members – mainly involving critical security and also related to security for OpenAI projects and operations.

However, one of the things criticized by many is that this team is also led by Sam Altman, who is the CEO of OpenAI himself. Normally, a team would be appointed involving outsiders, but OpenAI took a different step. Previously, a number of OpenAI's security-focused team had left the firm, criticizing the firm's methods. OpenAI also still hasn't answered various questions from the public regarding the data used to train their models.

With this new development, let's all look forward to what's next for OpenAI, and what surprises will be brought through their new model of AI later, including the impact of this special security-focused team. Although it was announced today, its development may take some time and may even take years.
