SKMM And Telegram Will Work Together To Curb The Issue Of Piracy

The issue of digital piracy, which is becoming more prevalent every year, has yet to find an end point. The impact on art activists and employees is so great that it is also able to affect the ecosystem of the local creative industry.

The reality is that the Telegram application is also no exception in experiencing the issue. In fact, several complaints about pirated films and distributed through the platform have also been received by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC).

Following that, Telegram is said to be ready to cooperate with the government through MCMC in an effort to combat the problem. Detailing the matter, regular discussions between MCMC and Telegram have been held including the issue of copyright owners. The discussion process will also be improved and take some time due to the lack of some complete documents.

For the record, Telegram has also previously been blocked in Spain due to the same issue. It was also followed by several other countries including Brazil for various reasons.
