Sony is now reportedly in talks with Paramount for a takeover. Sony is said to be joining Apollo in a takeover bid.
The talks are said to have been initiated by Paramount, after an exclusive discussion period with Skydance expired at the end of last week. It is said that Sony and Apollo are bidding to take over Paramount at a value of up to $26 billion.
For those who are not familiar with Paramount, it is a familiar name in the content production arena, and has brands such as Nickelodeon, MTV, and even CBS under them, in addition to Paramount Pictures. Due to business challenges including due to streaming services, Paramount has started looking at several other methods, including selling their business.
