Stack Overflow, a forum website used by millions of users to get answers to questions about programming techniques has reportedly signed an agreement to supply machine learning data to OpenAI.
This means that AI platforms using ChatGPT will soon be able to provide more accurate answers on programming-related topics. For Stack Overflow, it will be easier for them to develop generative AI technology for their own platform.
What's also interesting about this collaboration is that this isn't the first time Stack Overflow has signed an understanding to use their forum data for machine learning purposes. Previously they have also collaborated with Google to improve the quality of Gemini machine learning.
In fact, before this agreement with OpenAI, they were prohibited from using Stack Overflow data for their machine learning, but now that Stack Overflow itself is seen to be taming the use of generative AI technology, their stance on this technology has changed.
Stack Overflow is expected to introduce new features on their website starting in June this year.
