Today's Touch 'n Go eWallet application has been updated with a currency conversion calculator feature. It was introduced specifically to facilitate TnG Visa prepaid card users when abroad. This feature is said to help users monitor expenses and do calculations for every transaction abroad.
This feature also allows users to select five favorite currencies for quick access. The currency conversion calculator in the TnG eWallet application uses an indicative conversion rate, i.e. directly. The actual rate is taken into account at the time of transaction. There is no currency conversion charge, but in the Product Disclosure Sheet available on the TnG application each transaction will be charged 1%.
This means, if you go to the United States and spend $10 the app will display the conversion to RM47.78. But the amount deducted from the account is RM48.26. An actual example I did in Bangkok last week was 100 Baht = RM12.93, but the app deducted RM13.06.
