With the announcement of iOS 18, iPadOS 18, macOS Sequoia, and watchOS 11 yesterday, it's time to say goodbye to Apple ID. When all of these operating systems are released to the public later this fall, Apple ID will officially be rebranded as Apple Account.
Apple ID has been in use for over two decades. According to Apple, branding to Apple Account is done to "provide a consistent login experience across Apple services and devices". After this, there should be no confused users when trying to activate a new device and do not know what their Apple Account is.
