Apple Intelligence Among the Features That Will Be Suspended in the EU

Operating system updates at Apple will bring new features such as Apple Intelligence which brings artificial intelligence (AI) features. But for users of Apple products in European Union (EU) countries, some of these new features will not be able to be used like users in other market countries.

According to a Bloomberg report, Apple Intelligence, iPhone Mirroring, and SharePlay Screen Sharing will not be activated in the EU this year due to issues with the Digital Market Act (DMA). Through DMA, any new features that do not provide access to third parties cannot be offered to users. This is to ensure that anti-monopoly practices are not carried out by companies labeled as "gatekeepers".

Apple issued a statement saying that giving third parties access to these features could affect the integrity of the product offered, endangering user privacy and even data security.

Ever since DMA was introduced Apple has been forced to allow apps to be downloaded onto their devices via third party stores and access to their NFC system is open. Apple relented but this permission was limited to the EU market only. But there are reports that Apple will be investigated and fined because their efforts to comply with the DMA are still unsatisfactory in the EU's view.
