ARM Aims for a 50% Share of the PC Market in Another 5 Years

ARM, one of the firms designing processing chips widely used in mobile devices, has now announced that they aim to have a PC market share of around 50% within 5 years. This partnership comes in parallel with Microsoft along with several manufacturers that have started to announce computers using chips based on ARM designs.

Until now, the majority of computers used Intel or AMD based processing chips. However, with the transition of Apple computers that use chips based on ARM design, now Microsoft has also started to optimize the offer for the chip as well.

The use of ARM chips is seen to offer good performance power, but with energy consumption savings. Microsoft is also focusing on the integration and use of artificial intelligence, which is optimized for chips with ARM designs.

Previously, Qualcomm has also branched out to the desktop using the Snapdragon X Elite chip – thus showing that the Qualcomm chip that uses an ARM-based design is not limited to laptops only, but will also be extended to desktops.
