Blackmagic URSA Cine Immersive Launches With Apple's Spatial 3D Video Recording Capabilities



Yesterday Canon announced a special lens for recording Apple's 3D spatial video for use with the Canon EOS R7. Recently, Blackmagic Design announced the URSA Cine Immersive professional camera for recording the same video.



URSA Cine Immersive is equipped with a dual 8K sensor with a stereoscopic 3D lens that supports a 180-degree viewing angle. Each sensor can record 3D video with a resolution of 8160 x 7200 at a rate of 90 FPS with 16 stops of dynamic range of color accuracy.


A 5-inch LCD screen with HDR display for monitoring is also built in along with 12G-SDI out, 10G Ethernet, USB-C, XLR, and Lemo 8-pin connection ports for power.



The camera also has a built-in 8TB Blackmagic Media Module storage that can store 2 hours of 3D 8K video in Blackmagic RAW format. Cloud storage support through the Cloud Store is also enabled and the majority of the camera body is built with alloy and carbon fiber polycarbonate skin.


Along with this camera, the DaVinci Resolve application has also been updated to support 3D video editing as well as support for watching video recorded on Vision Pro. The selling price has not yet been announced but is estimated to be approximately the same as the URSA Cine 12K which is around RM70,739.
