Canon Produces Lenses That Can Record Apple's Spatial 3D Video

We all know that since Apple Vision Pro was announced, Apple began to get serious about the development of immersive spatial and 3D video technology until the Alliance for OpenUSD (AOUSD) was established to standardize 3D content. Most recently, Apple has partnered with Apple for a special Canon camera to record spatial video.

The RF-S7.8mm F4 STM DUAL lens was developed specifically for the Canon EOS R7. This lens is said to be a family of EOS VR lenses that use dual lenses to record spatial video for viewing in Apple Vision Pro. This indirectly makes Canon the first professional camera that can record video using Apple's spatial 3D format.

Recorded video is converted into spatial video through the EOS VR Utility application. This lens has a viewing angle similar to the view of the human eye for natural 3D video recording. This lens also supports fast focus mode and the Canon EOS R7 needs to be updated before using this lens.

The RF-S7.8mm F4 STM DUAL will be sold in the third quarter of 2024, which is around September 21 to December 20. Specific dates and sale prices will be announced at a later date.
