HarmonyOS Is Now The Second Most Popular Mobile Operating System In China – Overtaking Apple iOS

Huawei's effort in the development of its own operating system, HarmonyOS began to show early success. According to the latest data based on Counterpoint Research, HarmonyOS now holds the throne as the second most popular operating system in China.

According to market share in the first quarter of 2024, HarmonyOS has a market share of 17%, followed by iOS with a share of 16%. Occupying the first ladder is Android, which has a majority share of the mobile market not only in China, but in the world.

In China itself, the demand for Huawei devices is starting to increase again, not to mention the offer of attractive devices by the manufacturer. Not limited to users, a number of developers have also started developing native applications for the HarmonyOS platform – in line with Huawei's efforts to move away from Android integration on the operating system.

Huawei itself is expected to introduce HarmonyOS Next through the Huawei Mate 70 series to come later this year.
