The iPhone will soon be able to make emergency video calls through iOS 18. iOS 18 beta testers found a feature where not only video can be streamed directly to the emergency line but also video can be sent to them if needed.
With this caller who is lost in the forest for example, can provide a video of their location to make it easier to track them down. Emergency calls are made using an encrypted network to ensure privacy. This emergency feature is not the same as the emergency call feature using satellite. It is done automatically when detecting the user of the device involved in an accident.
Previously this feature simply made automatic phone calls and sent SMS to immediate family members complete with GPS location.
