Later you will need to register the drone in Malaysia, and ask for permission before flying

Owners and users of drones, whether commercially or as a hobby, will need to register with CAAM before being able to use them. It was informed that the relevant regulations have already been introduced, but have not been fully enforced for now.

Later this year, CAAM will introduce UAS TM (Unmanned Aircraft System Traffic Management), and drone owners and users will need to register under it - including registration when purchasing a drone. This TM UAS is expected to be introduced in the third quarter of 2024.

In addition to registration, drone users will also need to apply for permission before flying their drone. A mobile application will be introduced for the purpose, and permission will be given immediately through the application if it complies with the location and so on for the drone flight.

This step was taken to manage the country's airspace more effectively.
