LG TVs In 500,000 Hotel Rooms Will Start Supporting Google Cast In Phases

In any hotel usually the management will prevent the use of Apple AirPlay or Google Cast (formerly Google Chromecast). This is for security and privacy since guests at the hotel will be sharing WiFi. Since recently some hotels have started to integrate Apple AirPlay and Google Cast support to make it easier for users and the latest is LG who wants to make sure their televisions in hotels support this screen sharing feature.

LG partnered with SONIFI which is a company that allows users to share screens using hotel WiFi and the connection will be disconnected once they check out. SONIFI technology is STAYCAST which has been used in 500,000 hotel rooms worldwide. The new update will see SONIFI use Google Cast for a more efficient, convenient and secure connection method.

No list of hotels is given but we can expect that gradually LG televisions that use SONIFI in 5000 hotels around the world will support Google Cast. After this you can also play Netflix or Prime Video easily without the problem of the television screen going black with only audio.
