MediaTek Also Develops Processing Chips For Microsoft's AI Laptops

As you already know, Qualcomm has an exclusive agreement where all AI laptops using the Microsoft Windows 11 For ARM operating system will be powered by their processing chips only for a year.

However, this has not stopped another ARM processor chip maker, MediaTek, from developing their own processor chip for ARM laptops. Reuters has reported that the company will introduce its own processing chips for this product segment.

Not many details are known about this for now, but according to Reuters sources at the company, MediaTek is expected to show these processing chips around the end of next year when the exclusive agreement between Qualcomm and Microsoft ends.

This is not something strange because these companies will usually need about a year to develop processing chips like this, and it is expected that when the exclusivity period between Microsoft and Qualcomm ends. MediaTek will also be able to showcase their own Windows for ARM offering.

So far it is not known whether Microsoft will include MediaTek in their Copilot+ PC laptop program or not. Microsoft has already set the requirement of 40 AI TOPS and 16GB of LPDDR5 memory as the basic requirements to enter the program for now.
