Meitu Wants To Generate Revenue With AI Applications Not Licensing Their AI Models

Meitu is one of the Chinese technology companies that has been using AI technology for a long time. Among their popular AI technologies is the beauty mode on the camera app. After Meitu exited the smartphone business, they are now focusing on developing artificial intelligence for user-friendly applications. Recently, Meitu CEO Wu Xinhong stated that they want to generate income through AI applications instead of licensing their AI models.

Meitu now has many AI-based applications and services. Among them are Meitu and Whee who each use the Qixiang dialect model. There are new products launched namely;

MOKI – Like Sora but focused on generating animated content, comics, etc.

Meitu Cloud Retouching V2 – Enhance photos via web browser.

Open Shoot V2 – Generate talking videos with AI.

Meitu Design Studio V3: Design applications using AI.

ZCOOL Design Service – AI-based design service.

Qimi – An ad generating service for video games using AI.

The Qixiang model used has been updated to the fifth version with DiT technology, which is like Sora using a diffusion Transformer. Most of these Meitu applications are also offered globally and are not limited to China only. Meitu also wants to focus on generating revenue through each of their AI applications and services instead of licensing Qixiang to other companies because they realize that the demand for applications is higher from users

Meitu has various AI models including for generating videos, images, designs and materials for marketing. Besides Qixiang, ZCOOL, RoboNeo and MircacleVision are other models that are integrated in various applications and services. Wu Xinhong also added that in China 83% of image editing applications are based on generative AI technology. In Malaysia, you can download the Meitu app and subscribe to the VIP plan for RM119.90 per year or RM23.90 per month.
