Play For Dream Introduces Apple Vision Pro Challenger – Play For Dream MR



The competition between developers of MR or Mixed Reality devices seems to be intensifying with attractive offers. Recently, a technology company from China, Play For Dream will enter the Asia Pacific market with their own MR device offering called Play For Dream MR.


Play For Dream MR was only recently established in 2020 to develop devices using Mixed Reality technology, and so far, they already have two devices under them called Play For Dream YVR 1 and YVR 2 which are two virtual reality devices developed in in 2021 and 2022.



For their third device, the company seems to be changing their direction a bit after seeing what Apple has to offer with the Apple Vision Pro device. Play For Dream MR was developed with the philosophy of bringing the concept of spatial computing to a wider market.


The technical details of this Play For Dream MR device are quite interesting. First, it is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 processing chip connected to 11 cameras, seven types of scanners and 22 infrared LEDs that promise fast and accurate eye and movement tracking with tracking latency as low as 14ms.



In the meantime, this device is also equipped with 16GB of LPDDR5X memory and UFS 3.1 internal storage with storage options of 512GB and 1TB depending on the user's needs. Play For Dream has not confirmed the specifications of the operating system used on this MR device, but it uses a type of Android operating system that will only be confirmed in a few months.



The internal screen of this Play For Dream MR device also uses two Micro OLED screens with 4K resolution for each left and right side, and combine to give users a combined resolution of 8K with a stable 90Hz refresh rate to reduce the possibility of dizziness and nausea issues when using it .



In the meantime, this MR device also has a built-in speaker tuned by DTS that provides a spatial audio listening experience without the need to install any headphones as required on other MR devices.



As a lifestyle-focused device, the Play For Dream MR controller has also been designed to be easier for users to use, and this controller will allow you to control various inputs displayed through this spatial computing device, such as zooming in and out of the display. virtual, change the software used and so on.



In the meantime, Play For Dream also said that they will work with various application developers to add software support that will not only benefit casual lifestyle use, but also allow professionals to take advantage of this Play For Dream MR device as a tool to stimulate creativity and productivity that will facilitate their tasks.



The official price tag for the MR Play For Dream MR device is not yet known (but it will be cheaper than the Apple Vision Pro), but the company has confirmed that the device will be brought to the Malaysian and Singapore markets first in October 2024 before it will be introduced in other markets such as Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam and Japan in 2025.
