Samples of the far side of the moon collected by the Chang'e 6 probe earlier this month have finally been successfully sent to Earth. The container containing this sample landed in Inner Mongolia early yesterday morning according to a statement issued by the China National Space Agency (CNSA).
China became the first country to successfully return samples from the surface of the far side of the moon back to Earth. A total of 2 kilograms of samples were successfully sent back and it will help scientists study the origin of the formation of the moon and also indirectly the formation of the earth.
With the success of the Chang'e 6 mission, China will also send the Chang'e 7 mission in 2026 and Chang'e 8 in 2028. The information gathered will help China find the best location for their base on the surface of the moon later. Like America and Russia, China also has aspirations to use the moon as a springboard to launch missions to explore other planets such as Mars.
