Slack has now started notifying free plan users, stating that Slack will start deleting content after a year for free version subscribers. Alternatively, if you want to save content after a year, users need to subscribe to Slack's paid plan.
Slack stated that this new policy will be enforced starting August 26, 2024.
For information, Slack shows messages and files uploaded up to the last 90 days for users of the free plan, but old messages are saved and not deleted. This also allows you to access all old messages when switching to a paid plan. However, with this change, users will only be able to access up to a year ago.
With this move, it may make more people switch to Slack's paid plans, or may switch to another platform entirely.
