Today Astro has officially launched the sooka TV Stick which is their own television dongle that can turn any television into a smart television. More interesting with this dongle all televisions can now run the Sooka application easily.
With this sooka TV dongle, users can continue to access interesting content in sooka without any subscription. This is because the sooka TV Stick uses its own launcher on top of Android TV 12 with shortcuts to various television channels as well as exclusive content including live sports.
This dongle uses the Plug & Play concept via HDMI. Two main packages are offered, namely TV Stick + 1M Premium or TV Stick + 12M Premium which give users the same advantages as the VIP plan.
The first package is a dongle only at a price of RM349 while the second package is a Premium plan subscription for a year priced at RM579 with a free dongle (monthly installment payment of RM50). Every first purchase also qualifies for a free 3-month Disney+ Hotstar subscription.
sooka TV Stick has more or less the same functionality as other Android TV dongles. It supports voice control (with Google Assistant), access to the Google Play Store to download various other applications Viu, YouTube, HBO Max and more, and share content from the phone screen to the TV with Chromecast.
Currently Netflix is not supported but that will change in the future. Another thing that will be provided in future updates is 4K streaming for sooka content as it is currently limited to FHD.
For 4K and Dolby Atmos streaming, it can still be enjoyed through other select apps. Control is also easy with dedicated controls provided for free. The most interesting thing is, with the purchase of sooka TV Stick regardless of any package the user will not be bound by a contract like an Astro subscription.
This sooka TV Stick can be purchased through Sooka's official website. Astro representatives also confirmed that this TV dongle will be sold in other electronic stores. Astro promises that with the purchase of this Sooka TV Stick, users can save up to RM440 and this dongle aims to be easy to use for all categories of users.
