YouTube Gives Everyone the Feature to Use Up to Three "Thumbnail" Images

YouTube today announced that the feature of using up to three small images (thumbnails) on videos is starting to be given to all users. This feature started being given to selected users only since last year. Through it the channel owner can place up to three thumbnails for each video.

YouTube will then display it randomly on the page. Thumbnail testing is done within 2 to 14 days depending on the video uploaded. After that period, the image that generates the highest views will be chosen as the default image for the video forever. Channel owners can also see the percentage of viewers choosing a particular image from within YouTube Studio for more in-depth analysis.

The feature is rolling out to all channel owners over the next few weeks. To use it as well, the channel owner needs to activate the "Intermediate features" feature through the channel's YouTube Studio settings. At the same time the ability to upload these three thumbnails can only be accessed through the website.
