YouTube is currently testing a new feature called notes, which allows users to provide more context and information related to a video or share. This feature is more or less the same as on Twitter or X, which allows users to understand the context of a sharing and avoid any spread of false information.
On YouTube, other users can add notes to a video, and they will appear at the bottom of the video to provide context. As many are aware, maybe a video in question was recorded a long time ago and re-uploaded, or maybe a parody video that was misunderstood, and so on.
YouTube says the feature is being rolled out for users in the United States, via mobile views first – before it's rolled out if the test is successful. YouTube also stated that it will invite a number of contributors to enable writing notes on videos on the platform.
