All iPhone 16 are expected to be powered by the A18 Chip Series

It's been two generations of iPhones, Apple recycled the old chips into the base model and only the Pro model was generated with the new chip. It was recently leaked that all iPhone 16 are expected to be powered by the same chip series which is A18.

According to a MacRumors report, a freelance developer Nicolás Alvarez found code within Apple that suggests all iPhone 16s will use the A18 chip. The code for each iPhone is as follows;

iPhone17,1

iPhone17,2

iPhone17,3

iPhone17,4

iPhone17,5

The codename iPhone17 is for the iPhone 16 as iPhone16 is for the iPhone 15 Pro. The number after the name code is a sign for the series of chips used. For this list of iPhone17 code names, it clearly states that each iPhone 16 will use chips in the same series. When compared to the iPhone 15 series;

‌iPhone 15‌ – ‌iPhone15‌,4

‌iPhone 15‌ Plus – ‌iPhone15‌,5

iPhone 15 Pro – ‌iPhone16‌,1

‌iPhone 15 Pro‌ Max – ‌iPhone16‌,2

Because the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus use the iPhone 14 Pro (iPhone15,2) chip, the code name is a continuation of that model. Then the iPhone 15 Pro uses a new chip, it uses a new code name according to the order of devices that use the same chip.

Even so, Apple can still set the iPhone17,1 and iPhone17,2 to use the A18 chip. While the iPhone17,3 and iPhone17,4 use the A18 Pro chip. The codename iPhone17,5 is said to be possible for the next-generation iPhone SE. This is also not surprising, with Apple wanting to emphasize the Apple Intelligence feature for the next generation of iPhones using chips in the same series is a good decision. what do you say
