Apple TV+ is undeniably an interesting video streaming platform but it's a shame that the amount of content on offer is not enough despite the lower subscription price compared to competitors. This makes people cancel subscriptions and go back to other platforms like Netflix. Apple may have found a way to keep their customers loyal.
According to Bloomberg, Apple is currently in talks with Hollywood representatives to license foreign films to Apple TV+. This is what Netflix has done to have over 18,000 titles (December 2023 report). This will likely bring people who canceled their Apple TV+ subscriptions back to subscribe. Apple also realized that their original movies that were also shown in theaters like Argylle and Napoleon did not help to increase the number of subscribers.
Earlier this year in the United States, Apple added 50 foreign films such as Mean Girls and Titanic. It is seen to have a positive impact. My personal observation, it was only after some viral Apple TV+ science fiction series like Silo and Dark Matter that many people subscribed. Who knows with HBO already offering content to external platforms, one day we could have content like Westworld on Apple TV+. What is your opinion?
