Canon EOS R1 and EOS R5 Mark II Now in Malaysia Starting at RM18,999

Canon Malaysia launched two of their mirrorless cameras aimed at professionals. The Canon EOS R1 is the flagship model equipped with a 24.2 MP BSI full-frame sensor matched to the DIGIC X image processing chip. By using a full-frame sensor, Canon says a faster autofocus system can be achieved and at the same time reduce rolling shutter issues.

The sensor also comes with the IBIS system to ensure the stability of the image of the subject to be taken. In mechanical shutter mode, it can take up to 40 frames per second in RAW format with a buffer of up to 1000 pictures. In mechanical shutter mode, up to 12 pictures can be taken per second. Video recording is up to 6K with optional 4K/60p Canon C-Log2 10-bit mode.

There is an Eye Control AF system where the camera can change the focus of the camera based on the object the photographer is looking at through the EVF. The EVF is of the OLED type with 9.44 million dots.

The Canon EOS R5 Mark II is an updated model to the EOS R5 that was launched in 2020. It comes with a 45MP BSI full frame sensor that is also matched with a Digic X image processing chip. Although the sensor is only 45MP, JPEG images up to 179MP can be taken through artificial intelligence assisted upgrade system.

Like the EOS R1, the EOS R5 also has an Eye Control AF system and also a Register People Priority feature. The face of the individual that is given focus importance can be saved by the camera. Therefore when video recording is done, their faces will always be given importance to be focused even in a group of people.

The camera is capable of recording 8K DCI 60p RAW video but is limited depending on the temperature of the camera. Through the separately sold cooling fan system, 8K DCI 60p RAW recording of up to 120 minutes is also possible. 4K 60p recording is possible without limits.

In Malaysia, the Canon EOS R1 is sold at a price of RM 29,999 for the body only while the Canon EOS R5 Mark II is sold at a price of RM 18,999 for the body only. Although the price has already been announced, sales will only take place in the fall.
