Chinese AI Company Offers AI Service Based on Deceased Family Members

Today's artificial intelligence technology can be used for a variety of purposes, whether it is good or harmful. from generating images and videos, as a digital assistant, it comes with a wide variety of uses, and it is expected that its development will continue to accelerate.

In China, one use of AI technology, specifically generative AI is now present with a unique type of use, which is to develop "digital clones" of deceased family members. The concept of family in the country is something that is very emphasized, and sometimes, there are those who cannot accept the departure of a family member.

The advancement of AI technology in these few years allows a number of Chinese dui technology companies to offer the development of these digital clones, where they only need video samples and pictures of deceased family members where they then use their language machines to develop these digital clones.

One of the companies shown is Silicon Intelligence, which offers a package priced at 199 yuan (~RM150) for one of these digital clones, and it can be developed quickly.

But one issue that may be shown is that it will not be able to interact like a real family member. Information such as memory, temperament, joys and sorrows is something that cannot yet be imitated by AI for now, but for a group of individuals, seeing the facial movements and hearing the voice of a deceased family member is sufficient for those who miss a family member who has passed away.

Whether this technology will be combined with the acceleration of robotic technology in the future is not yet known, but this can also be seen as an ethical question of whether we should allow those who have died to be "reanimated" as an emotional support tool for the family. .
