Donald Trump Wants TikTok to Remain to Give Competition to Facebook and Instagram

Donald Trump who is the presidential candidate for the Republican party this year expressed his support for TikTok. Trump said he wants TikTok to remain in existence to provide competition to Facebook and Instagram in an interview with Bloomberg BusinessWeek.

He also said he would not support a ban on TikTok's operations in the United States. Support for Bytedance's TikTok may have been given by Trump as he was banned for more than two years from Instagram and Facebook after using the platform to start riots on Capitol Hill in 2021 after losing to President Joe Biden.

The support given now is quite strange because while he was still president, Trump himself initiated the move to ban TikTok, forcing the data of American users to be transferred to Oracle's browser. At this point Trump has more followers on TikTok than Joe Biden.

Although developed as a short video sharing site, TikTok has evolved into an important platform to gain support from young people.
