Geely has announced the success of building a battery for an electric vehicle (EV) that can be used for up to 50 years or the equivalent of 3500 charging cycles and travel nearly 1 million km. The Aegis Short Blade Battery also has the ability to charge up to 80% in just 17 minutes.
Aegis Short Blade Battery is of the lithium iron phosphate (LFP) type. When it comes to weather, this battery will only experience a 10% lack of performance compared to the existing battery which is reduced by up to 20%. The first EV to be equipped with the Aegis Short Blade Battery is the Galaxy E5.
If what Geely promises is accurate, it solves the EV battery issue that only lasts between 10-15 years. The cost of replacing batteries is expensive and creates a problem of garbage disposal and a fire risk if not properly disposed of.
