Google Drive is a file storage space that allows users to save, access, edit and share file content online in text and video form - it is part of the Google Workspace product line. Until now, there are various useful functions that have been offered to improve the user experience.
In the latest development, Google announced they have added a function that allows captions to be automatically generated on videos that have been uploaded to Google Drive. This feature works by using speech recognition technology and only supports caption generation in English. However, Google will expand this automatic caption generation to many other languages in the future.
This feature will only work automatically on newly uploaded videos after the announcement on this matter last Thursday. Users can still generate captions on videos that have been uploaded a long time ago with manual settings. It's easy:
Open the video in preview mode.
Click the three-dot symbol at the top right of the display.
Click 'Manage Caption Tracks'.
Click 'Generate Automatic Caption'.
The process of generating captions is a bit slow as it takes a few minutes to complete generating captions depending on the duration of the video. This feature will also be improved to make it faster and more efficient.
Users can search for video captions in the file in the search box by typing a phrase or word mentioned in the video. So users no longer have to worry if they forget the file name. Overall, this feature is seen as useful for increasing user productivity by making it easier to search for files in Google Drive.
