Fuchsia OS is a new operating system developed by Google since 2016. It was released to the public through the first generation Google Nest Hub update. After a long wait for Fuchsia OS for phones, we might finally be able to try it out.
According to a report by Mishaal Rahman via Android Authority, Google is developing a lighter Fuchsia OS so that it can run on Android devices. What functionality Fuchsia OS will have on an Android device is still unclear. It's probably for a Samsung DeX-like feature, where the Pixel 8 when connected to a monitor can display Chrome OS.
Fuchsia OS will most likely not be a replacement for Android or Chrome OS. Instead Google may integrate Fuchsia into Android for better security features, or microdroid for a lightweight operating system running on top of Android and more. Let's all look forward to the development of Fuchsia OS which has returned to focus since 2023.
