Google also seems to want to compete with Apple in the entertainment segment because in the future, the physical product of Google TV will no longer be in the form of a dongle but a thin TV box. It is named as Google TV Streamer and will probably be a fierce competitor to Apple TV 4K.
9to5Google reports that Google's new TV box will be manufactured by Quanta Computer, which manufactures the Pixelbook, Pixel Slate, and Pixelbook Go. This TV box still runs the Android-based Google TV operating system but does not reveal the latest version. Not only that, Google TV Streamer is also said to support Ethernet connection and also Thread (Matter).
Ethernet connection will make it easier for users to use a more stable and fast Internet connection like on Apple TV 4K. While Thread support will allow this TV box to communicate with other connected devices such as controlling lights with a remote control. For now, the sale price and complete specifications are still a mystery, let's all look forward to it.
