Humble Games Lays Off Employees But Humble Bundle Operations Are Not Affected

Humble Games, the company behind the game bundle offering Humble Bundle announced layoffs due to economic challenges plaguing indie publishing. In a statement uploaded to LinkedIn, Humble Games explained that this step had to be taken after making considerations with the aim of ensuring the stability of the company. The restructuring of Humble Games operations however has no impact on Humble Bundle operations.

Humble Games will still operate to support some of the developers who use their services to publish games. Humble Games has been publishing games since 2017 and has already started a workforce reduction process at the end of 2023. Today's restructuring announcement resulted in 36 employees losing their jobs.

The year 2024 is the annus horribilis for the video game industry. The increase in sales of video games during the pandemic began to decline and led to the closure of studios by large companies such as Microsoft and Sony. Big studios like EA were also hit as video game sales returned to pre-pandemic levels.
