Instagram will replace the use of the "Made with AI" label on content that is perceived to be generated by artificial intelligence (AI) to "AI Info" after being criticized by users. Many users complain that edits to photos done in software like Photoshop have been labeled as entirely generated using AI. The "Made In AI" label started appearing on Facebook, Instagram and Threads since last May.
When the AI Info label is pressed, more detailed information about the work will be read. Meta admits that there is a flaw in the system that detects the work of AI on their platform. Meta will therefore work with other industry players to ensure that not all works that use AI are automatically labeled as non-human works.
It is very likely that Instagram's content detection system reads metadata or watermarks hidden by popular photo editing software whenever the AI feature is used. Photoshop for example can delete objects and expand images to appear wider using their Firefly AI.
