Instagram Won't Offer Long Videos In Order To Maintain Friendly Relationships Between Users

TikTok which popularized short and vertical video streaming has now become a long video platform as users can now upload videos of up to 60 minutes. Influencers and content creators now want the same features offered by Instagram through Reels. It seems that it will not happen because according to the head of Instagram Adam Mosseri, he does not want to turn Instagram into TikTok.

According to Mosseri, Instagram is a place to connect users with friends and then help users explore new interests through short videos. With long videos, users will see fewer videos than with short videos. This causes users to interact less with friends and is one of the main factors why long videos will not be offered on the Instagram platform.

Adam Mosseri also reminded the public that Instagram once tried to offer a long-form video platform like IGTV, but it failed. Users can also share 60-minute videos on Instagram but the platform is focused on a balance of photo and video sharing.
