Intel Admits There Are Issues With Their Gen 12 and Gen 13 Chips

Intel has finally admitted that there are instability issues with their 12th generation and 13th generation chips. The issue was first reported in 2022 before becoming more frequently reported at the end of 2023. It became a viral issue again after several developers reported their game browsers using Intel chips encountered it more often than those using AMD chips.

The source of the problem was found to be caused by microcode on the CPU which caused it to increase the voltage so much that the chip was operating outside of safe parameters. Intel will provide a software update in mid-August to resolve this issue. It will be provided through BIOS updates by the motherboard manufacturer and also by Windows.

Chips that experience this issue will experience permanent damage. Therefore if you have already experienced the problem of PC often failing to operate, Intel recommends that you do an exchange with it included in the RMA warranty. The update next August will only ensure that this issue does not occur on PCs with 12th generation and 13th generation Intel chips in the future.
