Maxis Reportedly Considering Buying U Mobile

Maxis, one of the leading telecommunications companies in Malaysia, is now reportedly considering buying another telecommunications company, namely U Mobile. According to Bloomberg, discussions are at an early stage for now, and there is a possibility that no transaction will happen.

It is said that one of the constraints that may be present is in terms of selling price, where U Mobile looks at the value of the company beyond RM10 billion. Besides that, U Mobile is also said to be in the process of listing the company on the stock exchange in the near future.

Previously, Celcom and Digi had consolidated their company's operations, thus forming a giant telecommunications company in Malaysia. With the takeover of U Mobile, it will give Maxis additional customers under the network, besides allowing it to continue expanding the market.

For now, Maxis has not issued any comment, while U Mobile will reportedly reject the offer.
