Maybank today released an official statement saying they are aware of the alleged data breach but advise customers that their information and all systems remain fully protected. However, Maybank takes the issue seriously and always prioritizes the safety of customers under its management. The various security and protection measures that have been implemented are also believed to be able to fully strengthen the protection of customer data.

In the meantime, the public is also advised not to arbitrarily share personal information. In addition to always being aware and checking first on the official website before doing any transaction to prevent something unwanted from happening.

Yesterday's incident was the second data leakage incident involving Malaysian company data sold through BreachForum. Last week data allegedly belonging to 4 million U Mobile customers was sold. But it was later found to be just old data that had been sold before when the database of Malaysia's main telecommunications company was successfully stolen by the intruders.
