Reddit has begun blocking other search engines from displaying their content entirely. According to a 404 Media report late last night, Reddit updated their Robot.txt text earlier this month to only allow Goggle Search to search and index page content.
This is believed to be done as part of the exclusive content licensing terms between Reddit and Google signed last February. If another search engine such as Bing is used to perform the search, it will only provide limited results. On the other hand if the same search is done using Google, various results including subreddits will also be given.
Reddit says the ban on other search engines is due to the misuse of their data by commercial entities. Reddit data was taken without permission causing the police to change even though they believe in an open internet.
