It would be interesting to see device manufacturers start to support multiple universal connectivity standards. The latest is Samsung which has now announced support for the Matter 1.2 standard on their Internet of Things device ecosystem, SmartThings.
With Matter 1.2 support, SmartThings can now be used to control various Internet of Things devices such as smart refrigerators, air conditioners, washing machines, robot vacuums, fans, various types of sensors and more from various brands without any problems. The next update is Smart Home Sharing which allows users to share Routines with friends to easily control one device en masse.
The SmartThings interface has also been changed to be more user-friendly in order to easily control various Internet of Things devices that are no longer limited to the Samsung brand. Samsung also brings Hub Manager to easily manage Internet of Things devices that have been connected according to various categories such as rooms and so on. Specifically for Galaxy device users, device control under SmartThings can be done directly from the notification tray.
Then to attract Samsung users to save in terms of energy consumption, the SmartThings application now has a mini game to collect badges and Samsung Rewards Points. This feature is named as Flex Connect and is limited to a few states in the United States only. These various new updates will be rolled out to users in stages.
